Il tè ha la capacità di avvicinarci a paesi lontani, così è stato per me quando ho ricevuto quest’offerta di collaborazione con un poeta italiano che vive in Cina e che nei suoi libri di poesia ci parla di come si è avvicinato al mondo del tè e alla filosofia orientale.

Simon Chiatante è un insegnante di lingue, traduttore e poeta. Anni trascorsi ad insegnare e viaggiare per la Cina gli hanno dato l’opportunità di approfondire le tante sfaccettature delle arti e scuole di pensiero cinesi, come anche la Via del Tè, fonte inesauribile d’ispirazione per i suoi scritti.

Nel 2023 e’ stato nominato Global Communication Ambassador dalla redazione di Shenzhen Daily, e International Experience Officer dall’autorita’ di Qianhai nel 2024 per la sua attivita’ poetica e culturale.

I suoi lavori più recenti includono una serie di poesie illustrate chiamata Visions of the Mist, poesie calligrafiche per il marchio di tè XinAnChu, per progetti di musica elettronica, e pubblicazioni per le riviste letterarie RIVISTA (Milano) e Poetry World (Shanghai). Al momento collabora con l’artista di pittura tradizionale cinese Zheng Taijun ed è membro della redazione del Fangfei Poetry Society.

Ho apprezzato entrambi i testi, uno più connesso alla cultura del tè l’altro decisamente più filosofico che permette di connetterci al nostro vero sé.

La prima domanda che mi è giunta spontanea nell’intervistare questo artista, è stata ovviamente il come si è avvicinato alla poesia, al tè e alla cultura cinese. La sua risposta mi ha emozionato molto e desidero condividerla con voi in questo mio articolo:

“Nel 2018 mentre ero in Scozia per il mio Master all’universita’ ho conosciuto la mia attuale ragazza cinese, che mi ha introdotto il mio primo te’ Tie Guan Yin insieme alla sua poesia preferita dal classico letterario Un Sogno Della Camera Rossa.

Mi sono immediatamente innamorato di lei e di entrambe le cose!”

Questo a dimostrazione che l’amore ha un grande potere creativo che può legare due persone anche di culture differenti e in luoghi lontani come cita una delle poesie di Simon:

Tea and Poetry with Simon Chiatante

Tea has the ability to bring us closer to distant countries, so it was for me when I received this offer to collaborate with an Italian poet who lives in China and who in his poetry books talks to us about how he approached the world of tea and Eastern philosophy.

Simon Chiatante is a language teacher, translator and poet. Years spent teaching and traveling around China gave him the opportunity to delve into the many facets of Chinese arts and schools of thought, as well as the Way of Tea, an inexhaustible source of inspiration for his writings.

In 2023 he was appointed Global Communication Ambassador by the editorial team of Shenzhen Daily, and International Experience Officer by the Qianhai authority in 2024 for his poetic and cultural activity.

His most recent works include a series of illustrated poems called Visions of the Mist, calligraphic poems for the tea brand XinAnChu, for electronic music projects, and publications for the literary magazines RIVISTA (Milan) and Poetry World (Shanghai). He currently collaborates with the traditional Chinese painting artist Zheng Taijun and is a member of the editorial staff of the Fangfei Poetry Society.

I appreciated both texts, one more connected to tea culture, the other decidedly more philosophical that allows us to connect to our true self.

The first question that came to me spontaneously when interviewing this artist was obviously how he approached poetry, tea and Chinese culture. His response moved me very much and I would like to share it with you in this article of mine:

“In 2018 while in Scotland for my Masters at university I met my current Chinese girlfriend, who introduced me to my first Chinese tea Tie Guan Yin along with her favorite poem from the literary classic A Dream of the Red Room. I immediately fell in love with her and both!”

This demonstrates that love has a great creative power that can bind two people even from different cultures and in distant places as one of Simon’s poems that I really appreciated quotes:
